Train Weathervane

Shannon Holding our great new Copper Train Weathervane!

Hello to all my fabulous unusual weathervane fans, what a year we have had. Ups and downs, highs and lows, I am thinking that 2020 will go down in the history books as the year that Marti McFly did not visit.

On to great things, this year we have high hopes to make a few new weathervane designs, I am excited to work on these this winter. We have had a slacking in new request these past few weeks but then maybe it is because I have not been doing the blogging thing or it could be that Christmas just got in the way.

Either way – not much in new request that were of major interest. No raccoons, poodles or sticks of dynamite weathervane request for us this month.

Again, as always, I want to stress the fact that our prices are going up in January, maybe sooner, we have another State of Maine mandatory wage increase coming our way along with about 10% increase in cost on everything we purchase to make a weathervane. Normally it is a must smaller increase but these past few months everyone from our box and supply companies, copper and solder companies and even our electric companies have hit us with increases. Our internet company Spectrum call in to attempt to get us a 300% increase in a new modem for our office which I kindly declined.

As you can guess things are shooting up and we are falling behind on keeping up with inflation so if you want a weathervane for the new year – heads up – now is the time to buy because prices are going up on all weathervanes on our site soon.

Now that I got the bummer of a statement made, I can go on to fun things. My crew here at the shop will be adding a new Manager this winter and he is going to be a powerhouse for us on our daily operations. This will enable me to be freed up for more fun things such as possibly new weathervane designs or my wife’s Honey Do List – not sure which one is going to be more important just yet but I am sure that I will find out soon enough.

This spring I have been told we plan on giving our Retail Shop a new makeover – my two wonderful daughters have decided that our showroom news a lot of new paint and maybe even a few new display racks for our weathervanes. This should be interesting, because those folks that have come in to visit us know that we are short on space when it comes for weathervanes, we have so many weathervanes that all you see is one big glow of copper.

We have been working on our train weathervane looks so I think we are going to do the train with standard wheels and spoke wheels, you should see them soon on our site as we rework them. We had a great customer call in and let us know that we had forgotten to put the cow catcher on the front of our train, so we have thanked her and have started reworking this train weathervane to look more like a train. When this one was done by our Coppersmith a few years back, I think we just all missed the cow catcher on the front. Anyway, here is a new photo of the train as we work on it with the Cow Catcher on the front.

Thank you all and have a great Christmas and Happy Weathervane New Year.
